Description

The Arabic root فرغ (f-r-gh) carries the core meaning of emptying, finishing, or becoming free from occupation. In the Quran, it expresses both the physical act of pouring out or emptying (as in pouring water or becoming empty) and the metaphorical sense of becoming free from one task to turn attention to another, most notably in Surah ar-Rahman (55:31) where Allah declares He will "attend to" or "turn to" humanity and jinn after being free from other affairs. This root emphasizes completion, transition, and the directing of full attention or resources from one state or task to another.
