Tafsir (Explanation)
Allah is the One who created the night for rest and tranquility for His servants, and the day for sight and activity, demonstrating His perfect wisdom and care for human needs. Ibn Kathir emphasizes that this alternation of night and day is a sign of Allah's divine power and provision, while Al-Tabari notes that 'mubsiran' (giving sight/clarity) refers to the day's illumination enabling vision and work. These signs are meant for those who truly listen and reflect upon Allah's creation.
Revelation Context

The surah addresses the polytheists of Mecca by directing their attention to the natural phenomena around them as evidence of Allah's sole creation and lordship. This particular ayah is part of a broader theme highlighting Allah's blessings and creative acts.
