Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah contains the declaration of the believing man from the people of Yaseen, who proclaims his faith in Allah (his Lord and the Lord of his people) and urges them to listen to his message. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this represents the moment when a righteous believer from among those who disbelieved openly testifies to the truth and calls his people to listen to the messengers' guidance. The statement emphasizes both personal conviction and the responsibility to convey truth to others.

Revelation Context

This ayah is part of the narrative in Surah Ya-Sin about the three messengers sent to the people of that city and the response of the believers and disbelievers. The context depicts a scene where a faithful man (described by some classical scholars as coming from the farthest part of the city) hears the messengers and immediately believes, then addresses his people with sincere counsel. This reflects the broader Meccan theme of calling people toward tawheed (monotheism) despite rejection and opposition.

Related Hadiths

While no hadith directly cites this specific ayah, Surah Ya-Sin itself is mentioned in a hadith in Jami' at-Tirmidhi where the Prophet (ﷺ) called it 'the heart of the Qur'an.' Additionally, hadiths emphasizing the reward of sincere advice (like those in Sahih Bukhari) relate to the theme of the believer's call to his people.

Key Lesson

True faith is not a private matter but carries with it the responsibility to share truth with others, especially those closest to us. This ayah reminds believers that conviction in Allah should inspire us to call others with wisdom and sincerity, trusting that Allah guides hearts.
