Transliteration

Yawma-idhin yuwaff-ihimullahu dina-hum al-haqq wa ya'lamun anna-allah huwa al-haqq al-mubin

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah refers to the Day of Judgment when Allah will give each person their due recompense with perfect justice and truth. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, this verse emphasizes that on that day, the falsehood of disbelievers and the truth of believers will become undeniably clear, and all creation will recognize Allah as the Manifest Truth. The phrase 'dina-hum al-haqq' (their due recompense in truth) indicates that Allah's judgment will be absolutely just, with no oppression or error whatsoever.

Revelation Context

This ayah concludes Surah An-Nur's passage on the false accusation against Aisha (the incident of ifk). It appears within the broader context of discussing divine justice and the consequences of slander, affirming that ultimately all hidden matters and false accusations will be revealed on the Day of Judgment when Allah's perfect justice manifests.

Related Hadiths

The concept relates to the hadith in Sahih Muslim where the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'On the Day of Judgment, the believer will find the reward of his deeds, and the disbeliever will find the punishment.' Also relevant is the hadith in Sahih Bukhari about how people's deeds will be presented to Allah on the Day of Judgment.
