Transliteration
La jarama annahum fil-akhirati humu al-khasiroon
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah affirms with certainty that those who reject faith and deny Allah's signs will undoubtedly be the losers in the Hereafter. The phrase 'la jarama' (there is no doubt) emphasizes the absolute certainty of this outcome. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari interpret this as a definitive statement about the eternal loss awaiting disbelievers—they will lose their souls, their deeds will be nullified, and they will face severe punishment in the afterlife.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the Meccan surah An-Nahl, which addresses the polytheists of Mecca who rejected the Qur'an and the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The broader context discusses those who twist Allah's words, deny the signs, and reject the truth, culminating in this warning about their inevitable loss on the Day of Judgment.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it' (Sahih Bukhari 5027), emphasizing that accepting and following the Qur'an leads to success, while rejecting it leads to loss. Additionally, the hadith about the Day of Judgment states that people will regret their choices when it is too late (Sahih Muslim 2858).
