Fasabbih biismi rabbika al-'azeem
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah commands the believer to glorify and praise Allah by His Greatest Name (Al-'Azeem - The Mighty/The Sublime). According to classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir, this closing command of Surah Al-Waqi'ah emphasizes that all glorification and worship must be attributed to Allah's greatness and majesty. The imperative form (fasabbih) serves as both a command and an exhortation to continuous remembrance of God's infinite power and sublimity.
Revelation Context
This ayah concludes Surah Al-Waqi'ah, which was revealed in Mecca and deals with the Day of Judgment and the certainty of its arrival. The final verse encapsulates the surah's central message by directing believers to respond to the descriptions of divine greatness and the inevitability of the Hereafter with sustained tasbih (glorification), making remembrance of Allah the practical response to understanding His majesty.
