Transliteration

Falamma ataha noodiya min shati al-wadi al-aymani fi al-buqati al-mubarakati mina al-shajarati an ya Musa inni ana Allah rabbu al-alameen

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah describes the moment when Prophet Musa (Moses) arrived at the sacred valley and received the divine call from Allah through the burning tree on the right side of the valley. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir emphasize that this was the first direct address to Musa from Allah, establishing his prophetic mission, and the phrase 'I am Allah, Lord of the worlds' affirms the absolute oneness and sovereignty of Allah. Al-Qurtubi notes the significance of the blessed location (al-buqah al-mubarakah) and the right side of the valley as signs of divine honor bestowed upon this encounter.

Revelation Context

This ayah is part of the Quranic narrative of Musa's life in Surah Al-Qasas (a Meccan surah). It describes the historical event when Musa fled Egypt after killing the Coptic and arrived in Madyan, then later encountered Allah's call at Mount Sinai. The surah recounts this story to provide comfort to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the Meccan period of persecution, showing how Allah had guided previous prophets through trials.

Related Hadiths

Sahih Bukhari (hadith on the story of Musa and the burning tree) and Surah Taha 9-14 provide complementary Quranic accounts of this same event. The hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah in Sahih Muslim discusses how Allah spoke to His prophets and the honor of such direct communication.
