Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty) · Ayah 5

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا رُجُومًا لِّلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ 5

And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with lamps [i.e., stars] and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly

زَيَّنَّاzayyannāWe have beautified

زينz-y-nverb

ٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāathe heaven

سموs-m-wnoun

ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yānearest

دنوd-n-wadjective

بِمَصَـٰبِيحَbimaṣābīḥawith lamps

صبحs-b-hnoun

وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَاwajaʿalnāhāand We have made them

جعلj-'-lverb

رُجُومًۭاrujūman(as) missiles

رجمr-j-mnoun

لِّلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖlilshayāṭīnifor the devils

شطنsh-t-nnoun

وَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāand We have prepared

عتد'-t-dverb

لَهُمْlahumfor them
