This ayah teaches the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to supplicate to Allah for righteous entry and exit in all affairs, along with divine authority and support. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi explain that 'mudkhala sidq' (entrance of truth) and 'mukhreja sidq' (exit of truth) refer to conducting one's affairs with sincerity and integrity, while 'sultanан nasiran' (victorious authority) means seeking Allah's help and wisdom to succeed in propagating the message of Islam. This du'a encompasses seeking Allah's guidance in both beginning and concluding matters with truthfulness.

It comes after the miraculous Night Journey (Isra) and is part of guidance given to the Prophet regarding his mission.
