إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ 14
Translations
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
Transliteration
Inna rabbaka la-bil-mirsad
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah affirms that Allah, your Lord, is indeed watching and observing all actions and deeds of His servants from a position of perfect vigilance and authority. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, 'al-mirsad' (the watch-post or vantage point) signifies Allah's complete awareness and oversight—He is positioned to see and judge every deed. This statement serves as a powerful reminder of divine accountability and that no action escapes Allah's knowledge, compelling believers to maintain consciousness of His eternal watchfulness.
Revelation Context
Surah Al-Fajr is a Meccan surah that emphasizes themes of divine judgment, accountability, and the fate of those who reject Allah's signs. This particular ayah appears near the conclusion of the surah as a final warning and reassurance: a warning to the arrogant and disobedient that Allah observes their transgressions, and reassurance to the believers that their righteous deeds are witnessed by their Lord.

وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلَـٰمٌ وَٱلْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُرٍ مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words of Allāh would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.
وَإِذْ غَدَوْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ تُبَوِّئُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَقَـٰعِدَ لِلْقِتَالِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
And [remember] when you, [O Muḥammad], left your family in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle [of Uḥud] - and Allāh is Hearing and Knowing -
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Does he not know that Allāh sees?
