Al-Baqarah (The Cow) · Ayah 232

وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَن يَنكِحْنَ أَزْوَٰجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَٰضَوْا۟ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ مِنكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَزْكَىٰ لَكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ 232

And when you divorce women and they have fulfilled their term, do not prevent them from remarrying their [former] husbands if they [i.e., all parties] agree among themselves on an acceptable basis. That is instructed to whoever of you believes in Allāh and the Last Day. That is better for you and purer, and Allāh knows and you know not.

وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when

طَلَّقْتُمُṭallaqtumuyou divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَl-nisāa[the] women
فَبَلَغْنَfabalaghnaand they reached
أَجَلَهُنَّajalahunnatheir (waiting) term
فَلَاfalāthen (do) not
تَعْضُلُوهُنَّtaʿḍulūhunnahinder them
أَنan[that]
يَنكِحْنَyankiḥ'na(from) marrying
أَزْوَٰجَهُنَّazwājahunnatheir husbands
إِذَاidhāwhen
noun
تَرَٰضَوْا۟tarāḍawthey agree
بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween themselves
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗbil-maʿrūfiin a fair manner
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
noun
يُوعَظُyūʿaẓuis admonished
بِهِۦbihiwith it
noun
مَنmanwhoever
noun
كَانَkāna[is]
مِنكُمْminkumamong you
noun
يُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieves
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَٱلْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Day
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗl-ākhiri[the] Last
أخرa-kh-radjective
ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthat

أَزْكَىٰazkā(is) more virtuous
لَكُمْlakumfor you
noun
وَأَطْهَرُ ۗwa-aṭharuand more purer
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknows
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumand you
noun
لَا(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
