Transliteration
Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira alayhi ahad
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah questions whether a transgressor thinks that no one has power over him, implying his arrogance and false sense of security. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi interpret this as Allah's rhetorical challenge to those who commit evil, reminding them that Allah is always aware and capable of punishing their deeds. The ayah serves as a stern warning against the delusion of immunity from divine accountability.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in Surah Al-Balad, which emphasizes the signs of Allah's power and the responsibility of humans regarding their deeds. The broader context of the surah discusses the struggles of the righteous path versus the path of transgression, with this particular ayah addressing the arrogance of those who think they can sin without consequence.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Verily, Allah is with the servant so long as the servant is with his Lord' (Tirmidhi). This reinforces the theme that Allah's knowledge and power encompass all actions, and one should never assume safety from divine justice.
