Inna ma tūʿadūn laʾātin wa mā antum bimuʿjizīn
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah emphasizes the certainty of the Day of Judgment and divine promises, asserting that what the believers are promised will definitely come to pass. The clause 'and you cannot escape (God's plan)' conveys that no one can evade or nullify Allah's decree, reinforcing human accountability before the Divine. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari stress this as a reminder of the inescapability of divine justice and the futility of trying to thwart Allah's will.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah Al-An'am (a Meccan surah), which addresses the polytheists' denial of resurrection and the Day of Judgment. The broader context discusses divine signs, the certainty of Allah's promises, and refutations of disbelievers' objections to monotheism and the afterlife.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The Hour will not be established until...'; refer to various ahadith in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim regarding the certainty of the Day of Judgment (Kitab al-Qadr). Thematically related is the hadith emphasizing that none can escape Allah's decree.
