Translations
And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allāh wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."

Tafsir (Explanation)
On the Day of Judgment, Allah addresses the jinn, reproaching them for leading many humans astray. Both the jinn and their human followers will confess their mutual exploitation in worldly life, claiming they simply enjoyed each other's company until their appointed time ended. Allah's response is unequivocal: they will be punished in Hell eternally, except as Allah wills, emphasizing that His wisdom and knowledge encompass all their deeds and intentions. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir note this passage demonstrates the reality of jinn-human cooperation in sin and the accountability of both.
Revelation Context
This ayah is part of Surah Al-An'am (revealed in Mecca), which emphasizes monotheism and Allah's sovereignty. The broader context (verses 128-130) discusses the Day of Judgment when all creation faces divine reckoning. This passage specifically addresses the deception and mutual seduction between jinn and humans, a theme important to Meccan audiences who needed to understand the spiritual dangers of following jinn-inspired false beliefs.
Related Hadiths
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When one of you yawns, let him cover his mouth, for the devil enters.' (Sahih Muslim 2994) - relating to jinn influence. Also relevant: 'The jinn were created from fire' (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3154) - establishing their nature and capacity for deception.

Key Lesson
This ayah teaches that we are accountable not only for our direct sins but also for those we enable in others, and that worldly pleasures pursued together with those who mislead us will offer no excuse before Allah. It should motivate believers to carefully examine their influences and companions, recognizing that both jinn and human tempters exploit human weakness for mutual gratification, yet both face reckoning.
