Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah refers to two types of vegetation that Allah provides for livestock and human sustenance: grapes (inab) and herbage or fresh pasture (qadab). Classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir interpret these as examples of Allah's provision and mercy, highlighting the diverse plants He creates for nourishment. The mention of these specific plants emphasizes the variety and abundance of Allah's creation as signs of His power and wisdom.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears within Surah 'Abasa's broader context of describing Allah's signs in creation and His provision for humanity and animals. The surah itself was revealed in Mecca and focuses on the signs of Allah's dominion, particularly in the creation of plants and animals, which leads to reflection on the Creator's attributes.

Related Hadiths
