Description

The Arabic root شطأ (sh-t-a) carries the core meaning of sprouting, branching out, or producing offshoots from the side of a plant. In the Quran, it appears in Surah Al-Fath (48:29) describing how a plant sends forth its shoots that then strengthen and support it, used as a powerful metaphor for how the early Muslim community grew from the Prophet and his companions, with new believers branching out to strengthen and multiply the faith. The imagery emphasizes organic growth, multiplication, and the mutual support between the original stem and its new shoots.
