This ayah is part of a broader passage (36:33-35) highlighting Allah's creative power and provision for humanity. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir interpret this as evidence of divine sustenance and mercy, demonstrating how Allah provides fertile lands with vegetation and water sources essential for human survival and prosperity.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears within Surah Ya-Sin, a Meccan chapter that emphasizes Allah's omnipotence and the reality of resurrection. The surrounding verses (33-35) form a cohesive passage about the earth's transformation and fertility, serving as a metaphorical proof of Allah's ability to resurrect the dead, just as He revives dead earth with vegetation.
