Tafsir (Explanation)
Allah commands Prophet Musa to place his hand against his side, and when he draws it out, it will emerge white and radiant without any disease or defect—a miraculous sign. This miracle of the white hand was one of the nine signs given to Musa to prove his prophethood to Pharaoh, as mentioned in Surah Al-A'raf (7:108). Classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir explain that this radiance was a supernatural whiteness, distinct from natural illness or leprosy, serving as undeniable proof of divine power.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the Meccan surah Taha during the narrative of Musa's call to prophethood at the burning bush. Allah is equipping Musa with miraculous signs to strengthen his faith and provide evidence for his mission when confronting Pharaoh. The verse flows within the broader context of Musa's empowerment and the preparation of his prophetic message.
