Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah declares that the blessings and rewards described in the preceding verses are what the believers have been promised for the Day of Judgment. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi emphasize that this statement affirms the reality of Paradise and its eternal delights as a fulfilled promise from Allah to the righteous. The ayah serves as a reassurance that what has been described is not mere imagination but a certainty that awaits those who believe and act righteously.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah Sad's description of Paradise (Jannah) and its delights. The surah, revealed in Mecca during a period of intense opposition to the Prophet Muhammad, uses vivid descriptions of the afterlife to comfort believers and motivate them to steadfastness in faith despite worldly hardships.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'In Paradise there are things that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived' (Sahih Bukhari 4779). Additionally, the hadith about the greatest blessing in Paradise being the vision of Allah's Face is thematically related, as it emphasizes that Paradise contains promises beyond human imagination.
