Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the ultimate fate of those who rejected Prophet Noah (peace be upon him): they were drowned because of their sins and then entered the Fire, where they found no helper or protector besides Allah. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari emphasize that this verse illustrates the complete severance of aid from all creation when one turns away from Allah—the drowning in this life is followed by the punishment of the Fire in the afterlife, with no intercessor to save them from their doom.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah Nuh, which recounts Prophet Noah's 950-year mission and the rejection he faced from his people. The surah describes the consequences faced by those who rejected this divine call, establishing the historical pattern of divine punishment for those who persistently deny Allah's signs and His messengers.
Related Hadiths
The hadith of the Trumpet (Sahih Bukhari 6567) describes the final judgment and separation of believers from disbelievers, reflecting the theme of ultimate divine justice. Additionally, hadith narrations about the signs of the Hour in Sahih Muslim discuss the destruction of disbelievers and their entry into punishment, thematically aligned with this ayah's warning.

Key Lesson
This ayah teaches that reliance on any power, influence, or ally besides Allah is ultimately futile when facing divine justice; believers should recognize that only Allah's mercy and obedience to His messengers provide true security in this life and protection on the Day of Judgment.
