Transliteration

Thumma yu'eedukum feeha wa yukhrijukum ikhraaja

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah refers to Allah's cycle of creation: He returns humanity to the earth (in death) and then brings them forth again (in resurrection). According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this verse emphasizes the divine power over life and death, illustrating that just as Allah created humans from the earth initially, He will restore them to it and resurrect them with absolute certainty. The repetition of the concept (ikhraaja - bringing forth) stresses the certainty and inevitability of the final resurrection.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Nuh, which records Prophet Noah's warning to his people over 950 years. The verse is part of Noah's persuasive argument about Allah's creative power and the reality of the afterlife, themes central to Meccan surahs that emphasize tawhid (monotheism) and the certainty of the Day of Judgment.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it' (Sahih Bukhari 5027). Additionally, in Sahih Muslim, there are numerous hadiths about the resurrection and the certainty of the Day of Judgment that complement this ayah's message.

Key Lesson

This ayah reminds us of our temporary nature in this world and the certainty of resurrection, which should motivate us to live righteously and prepare for the afterlife rather than becoming attached solely to worldly pursuits. Understanding Allah's complete dominion over life and death strengthens our faith and humbles our hearts before the Divine.
