قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَـٰمًا زَكِيًّا 19
Translations
He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son]."
Transliteration
Qāla innammā anā rasūlu rabbiki li-ahabu laki ghulāman zakiyyā
Tafsir (Explanation)
The angel Gabriel responds to Mary's fear by identifying himself as a messenger from her Lord, come to grant her a pure and righteous son. [Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -
قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ ۖ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِى حَفِيًّا
[Abraham] said, "Peace [i.e., safety] will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.
