Tafsir (Explanation)

Allah promises to establish the believers in the land after the destruction of the disbelievers, as a reward for those who fear His standing (on the Day of Judgment) and fear His threat/warning. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari interpret this as Allah's promise to grant victory and settlement to the righteous, whether in this life or the next, emphasizing that true fear of Allah (taqwa) is the condition for receiving His blessings and protection.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Ibrahim, revealed in Mecca during a period of persecution of early Muslims. The surah addresses the believers' struggles against the idolaters and provides reassurance that despite their current oppression, Allah will ultimately grant them dominion over the earth. This promise is contextual to the trials faced by the early Muslim community and serves as consolation and motivation.

This reflects the promise of Islamic expansion mentioned in this ayah.
