Translations

Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.

Transliteration

Inna arsalnaka bil-haqqi bashiran wa nadhiran. Wa in min ummatin illa khala fiha nadhir.

Tafsir (Explanation)

Allah affirms that He has sent Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, establishing the dual nature of his prophetic mission. The second part emphasizes the universal nature of divine guidance—every nation throughout history has been sent a warner, demonstrating Allah's justice in providing guidance to all peoples. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi highlight that this verse underscores the continuity of prophethood across nations and absolves the Prophet of responsibility for those who reject the message after clear warning.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Fatir, a Meccan surah that addresses the disbelievers' rejection of monotheism and the message of the Prophet. The broader context discusses Allah's creation and wisdom, and this verse serves to validate the Prophet's mission while asserting that rejection of divine guidance is not a new phenomenon but has occurred throughout human history.

Related Hadiths

The hadith from Sahih Bukhari (3442) where the Prophet said: 'The best of people are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.' This relates to the concept of succession of messengers and guidance. Also relevant is the hadith in Surah Al-Qalam emphasizing the Prophet's role as a mercy to mankind.

Key Lesson
