Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the Day of Judgment when the plots, schemes, and deceptions that the disbelievers employed in this world will be of no benefit to them whatsoever, and they will receive no help or support from anyone. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari emphasize that all the worldly machinations and cunning stratagems of those who rejected Allah's signs will become utterly powerless and useless on that Day, highlighting the futility of opposing Allah's will.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah At-Tur, a Meccan chapter that addresses the Quraysh's denial and mockery of the Prophet Muhammad and the message of the Qur'an. The surah repeatedly warns of the consequences of disbelief and the inevitability of the Day of Judgment, reminding the deniers that their earthly plots against Islam will not save them.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'No one will enter Paradise except a Muslim soul' (Sahih Muslim). Related thematically is the hadith: 'On the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers will wish they were dust' (Sahih Bukhari), emphasizing the helplessness of those who rejected Allah.
