At-Tawbah (The Repentance) · Ayah 17

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُوا۟ مَسَـٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ شَـٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِٱلْكُفْرِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ 17

It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of Allāh [while] witnessing against themselves with disbelief. [For] those, their deeds have become worthless, and in the Fire they will abide eternally.

مَا(It) is not
كَانَkāna(It) is not
لِلْمُشْرِكِينَlil'mush'rikīnafor the polytheists
أَنanthat
يَعْمُرُوا۟yaʿmurūthey maintain
مَسَـٰجِدَmasājida(the) masajid of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) masajid of Allah
شَـٰهِدِينَshāhidīna(while) witnessing
عَلَىٰٓʿalāagainst
أَنفُسِهِمanfusihimthemselves
بِٱلْكُفْرِ ۚbil-kuf'ri[with] disbelief
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāika(For) those

حَبِطَتْḥabiṭatworthless
أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْaʿmāluhum(are) their deeds
وَفِىwafīand in
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
هُمْhumthey
noun
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
