Tafsir (Explanation)

The sorcerers of Pharaoh declare their belief in the Lord of all the worlds after witnessing the miracles of Prophet Musa. This statement marks their dramatic conversion from disbelief to faith, recognizing Allah's supreme power over the magic they had mastered. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir emphasize that this declaration represents a complete rejection of Pharaoh's false claims to divinity and an acknowledgment of Allah's absolute lordship over all creation.

Revelation Context

This ayah occurs in the narrative of Musa and Pharaoh (26:10-68), specifically following the confrontation between Musa and Pharaoh's sorcerers. The sorcerers, after witnessing the staff of Musa transform into a serpent that consumed their magical ropes and staffs, immediately recognized the truth and submitted to Allah. This demonstrates the power of clear signs (ayat) to overcome even the most hardened hearts.

While no hadith directly quotes this verse, Sahih Muslim includes traditions about the importance of witnessing divine signs and the transformation of hearts through clear proofs. The theme relates to the hadith in Sahih Bukhari where the Prophet (ﷺ) emphasized that faith enters the heart when one recognizes Allah's oneness.
