Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah refers to the righteous servants of Allah who will receive a known and determined provision in Paradise. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, the 'known provision' (rizq ma'lūm) refers to the blessings and sustenance guaranteed to the believers in the afterlife, which is abundantly clear and predetermined by Allah. This assurance comes as a reward for their obedience and righteousness in the worldly life.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah As-Saffat's description of the righteous (as-siddiqeen) and their elevated status with Allah. The surah, revealed in Mecca during the early Islamic period, emphasizes the distinction between the believers and the disbelievers, and their respective destinies. This particular ayah concludes a passage describing the qualities and rewards of the pious servants of Allah.
