Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah concludes the narrative of Prophet Lot (Lut) by affirming that Allah rewards those who do good deeds and maintain righteousness, just as He preserved Lot among the righteous. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this verse establishes a divine principle that ihsan (excellence in faith and action) receives divine reward, whether through protection in this life or honor in the hereafter. The phrase serves as a reassurance that steadfastness in goodness never goes unrecognized by Allah.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears within Surah As-Saffat's thematic discussion of various prophets and their righteousness. It follows the account of Prophet Lot's struggle against his people's corruption and serves to illustrate the broader Quranic theme that those who excel in obedience to Allah—the muhsinin—receive His special care and reward, as exemplified by Lot's deliverance.
