Transliteration

Feehinna khayratun hisaan

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah describes the wives of the inhabitants of Paradise as possessing excellent qualities—both in virtue (khayrat) and beauty (hisaan). Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi interpret this as emphasizing the perfect and righteous nature of the companions in Paradise, free from worldly defects and characterized by goodness and grace. The dual emphasis on moral excellence and beauty reflects the complete perfection that awaits the believers in the afterlife.

Revelation Context

This ayah is part of Surah Ar-Rahman's vivid description of Paradise (Jannah) and its blessings reserved for those who believe and do righteous deeds. The surah, revealed in Medina, uses repetitive rhetorical questions ('So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?') to draw attention to Allah's blessings in this life and the next, with verses 70-77 specifically describing the companions and spouses of Paradise.

Related Hadiths

Sahih Bukhari: The Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned that the women of Paradise will have tender skin that shines like glass, which relates to the beauty (husn) described here. Additionally, Jami' at-Tirmidhi contains hadiths about the virtuous qualities (khayraat) of women of Paradise.
