According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this describes the spiritual state of those who prioritize immediate gratification and worldly desires, neglecting their ultimate accountability before Allah. The ayah emphasizes the destructive choice of valuing perishable worldly pursuits over eternal spiritual salvation.
