Fasabbih biismi rabbika al-'aẓīm

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah commands the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the believers to glorify and exalt Allah by His Greatest Name. According to classical tafsir scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, this instruction to praise Allah's majesty serves as a powerful conclusion to Surah Al-Waqi'ah, emphasizing that all the descriptions of the Day of Judgment and the resurrection mentioned throughout the surah point to the absolute greatness and power of Allah. The command to glorify Allah by His Name (al-'aẓīm - the Most Great) reflects the theme that only through recognizing and praising Allah's supreme greatness can one maintain proper faith and perspective on the inevitability of the Day of Judgment.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears at the conclusion of the surah, serving as a fitting climax that redirects the reader's focus from descriptions of the Day of Judgment back to the glorification of Allah, reinforcing that all cosmic events are under His divine control and majesty.
