سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ 40
Translations
Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.
Transliteration
Salhum ayyuhum bi-dhālik za'īm
Tafsir (Explanation)
Allah commands the Prophet to ask the polytheists who among them would take responsibility and guarantee that the idols they worship possess any share in divine authority or creation. Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error."
قُل لِّلَّهِ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةُ جَمِيعًا ۖ لَّهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
Say, "To Allāh belongs [the right to allow] intercession entirely. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned."
