Tafsir (Explanation)

Allah created the heavens and the earth with perfect wisdom, truth, and purpose—not in vain or without divine design. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir emphasize that this creation serves as a clear sign (ayah) for believers of Allah's omnipotence, wisdom, and the order pervading the universe. The phrase 'bi-al-haqqi' (with truth/justice/purpose) underscores that every aspect of creation reflects divine intentionality and serves meaningful purposes, inviting reflection on the Creator's attributes.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Al-'Ankabut, a Meccan chapter addressing early believers facing opposition. The surah's context emphasizes steadfastness in faith despite trials. This particular verse serves as a reminder that observable natural phenomena testify to Allah's existence and justice, countering the spiritual blindness of those who deny the truth.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'The heavens and the earth were created in six days, and the Throne of Allah was over the water' (Sahih Bukhari 3101). Additionally, the Prophet emphasized contemplating creation as a form of worship: 'Reflect upon the creation of Allah, but do not reflect upon Allah himself' (Sunan Ibn Majah 3923).
