Al-Anbya (The Prophets) · Ayah 97

وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ 97

And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

وَٱقْتَرَبَwa-iq'tarabaAnd has approached
ٱلْوَعْدُl-waʿduthe promise
ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu[the] true
حققh-q-qadjective
فَإِذَاfa-idhāthen behold
هِىَhiya[it]

شَـٰخِصَةٌshākhiṣatun(are) staring
أَبْصَـٰرُabṣāru(the) eyes
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who

كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
يَـٰوَيْلَنَاyāwaylanāO woe to us
noun
قَدْqadVerily
كُنَّاkunnāwe had been
فِىin
غَفْلَةٍۢghaflatinheedlessness
مِّنْminof
هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
noun
بَلْbalnay
كُنَّاkunnāwe were
ظَـٰلِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
