Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah refers to the blessings that Allah granted to Prophet Musa and his people, specifically mentioning cultivated crops and an honorable station or dwelling place. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this refers to the fertile lands of Egypt that Musa's people inherited after the drowning of Pharaoh, as well as their elevated status among nations. Al-Qurtubi notes that 'maqam kareem' (honorable station) can also refer to the respect and dignity bestowed upon the believers in this world and the next.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah Ad-Dukhan, a Meccan chapter that recounts the story of Musa and the deliverance of Bani Israel from Pharaoh's tyranny. The surah emphasizes Allah's blessings upon the believers as a counterpoint to the disbelievers' rejection, establishing a pattern of divine reward for the faithful.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: 'The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best among you to my family' (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3895), relating to the honorable station granted to those who maintain righteousness. Additionally, numerous hadiths emphasize provision and sustenance as signs of Allah's favor, such as in Sahih Bukhari regarding rizq (provision).
